Lead Application Engineer

 

LOCATION:

Noblesville, IN

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review and understand customer part prints, company time studies and machine quotations.
  • Develop tooling, workholding, complex machining processes and documentation for project purchases.
  • Develop documentation related to tooling, workholding, etc. for project purchases.
  • Assist in (and/or) writing CNC programs for products, assist in the installation of necessary components for a proper machine set-up, and help debug all facets of the process and project.
  • Assist in (and/or) preparing machines and related items by breaking down set-up, inventorying packages, verifying that all items have been accounted for, repacking items, and preparing packing list and shipping information.
  • Assist in (and/or) maintaining a clean and safe area around machines.
  • Coordinate the set-up of sold machines through to final machine acceptance and customer training at the customer’s site or at the company.
  • Support other company departments with technical information, including, but not limited to processing, tooling, and workholding.
  • Provide timely response for programming and technical assistance for customers and company employees via telephone, email, and/or site visits, if required.
  • Assist in maintaining the applications engineering schedule.
  • Mentor and evaluate their team, providing training and development opportunities.

**Position requires 40% of domestic travel.**

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

This position requires an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent and 10 years of relevant engineering experience in Programming and Setup Engineer, Application Engineer, or engineering-related position. In alternative, we accept 12 years of relevant engineering experience in Programming and Setup Engineer, Application Engineer, or engineering-related position.

Position also requires:

  • Experience with mechanical principles, including cutting tools, materials, and machining processes
  • Experience with blueprint reading, including GD&T symbols
  • Experience with programming, including developing and optimizing CNC programs for single and multi-axis machines
  • Experience with cutting tools, including proficiency in selecting cutting tools suited for the specific machining operation and material used
  • Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software
  • Experience with mathematics, including probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Experience with CNC lathes and mills, program processing, tooling and workholding
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment where engineering skills were essential to the overall operations of the organization
  • Experience with engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with metallurgy including exotic alloys e.g. Iconel, Hastelloy, Stellite, etc.
